Environmental Protection Act

Regarding the procedures under the Environmental Protection Act, the report of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences notes that:

  • In 2004 the Ministry of Environment and Water issued a decision approving the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.

  • In connection with a question posed in the National Assembly, in 2016 the Minister of Environment and Water stated that construction work on the project has begun at the site and therefore the EIA decision is in force.
